The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces the launch of the third call for the motorcycle protective equipment grant scheme for the period 2024-2025, starting on 02 December 2024, at 12:00 noon. The grant concerns the purchase of a motorcyclist's body vest (body airbag), with an amount up to €500, incl. VAT Applications will be accepted until December 31, 2024, at 12:00 pm, electronically through https://rtd.mcw.gov.cy website.
The three-year plan (2022-2024) has a total budget of €1,050,000 (€350,000/year). Over the past two years, the project has been a success, with almost 1,200 applications, totalling more than €600,000, for the purchase of a motorcyclist's body airbag. This initiative aims to improve the passive road safety of motorcyclists by enhancing the protection of this vulnerable group of road users through the use of advanced protective equipment.
Applications can be submitted electronically through https://rtd.mcw.gov.cy website (without the need for registration or login), by entering the necessary data and will be evaluated based on the project criteria. It is noted that those who have already received a grant in a previous phase of the scheme cannot apply. In case the number of applications exceeds the predetermined number of beneficiaries, a draw will be held to select the beneficiaries, in the presence of representatives of the organized motorcyclists.

A subsidy scheme with a total budget of €1,050,000 for the purchase of a motorcycle body vest [airbag] and a cost of up to €500 per person was announced by the Ministry of Transport. It will apply for the period 2024-2025.
