POLICE - ROADSIDE CHECKS FOR TRUCKS AND BUSES 10-17 November

 Cyprus Police

An awareness and policing week, with roadside checks for truck and bus drivers, is being carried out by the Police from Monday to Sunday, November 10-17, 2024, as part of actions to reduce road collisions and increase road safety . The week of actions will be held on a pan-European level, by the member countries of the Roadpol European Police Traffic Network, with the Cyprus Police actively participating in the whole effort, as a member of the European Police Network.

At the heart of Roadpol's specially dedicated weekly action will be awareness of the dangers caused by non-compliance with the current legislation, as well as the intensification of traffic control violations, committed by truck and bus drivers. The validity of drivers' and vehicles' documents, speed limiters and tachographs, the observance of driving and working hours by professional drivers, and the technical and mechanical fitness of trucks and buses, will be benchmarks of traffic controls, as will the offenses that are proven to be major factors in causing serious and fatal road crashes, such as speeding and using a mobile phone while driving. The Police is intensifying traffic controls on the road network, to deal with traffic violations, while once again calling on professional drivers to comply with the law and traffic regulations.
