A state-of-the-art unmanned aircraft (drone), to meet the operational needs of the Police, was handed over today to Mr. Themistos Arnaoutis, Chief of Police, as a donation, by the President of the Board of Directors of the Non-Profit Organization Blue Heart Foundation, Mr. Christos Marangos. The drone was delivered during a handover ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, in the presence of the Assistant Director of the Department of Technological Development of the Police Headquarters, Mr. Petros Papakonstantinou.
It is a new generation flying medium, with an advanced thermal camera and normal cameras, which will undoubtedly enhance the technological equipment of the Police and the Department of Technological Development. The drone will be used in various police missions and operations, such as locating missing persons, policing events or demonstrations, rioting, surveillance of areas and infrastructure during official visits and wherever necessary.
Mr. Arnaoutis, after thanking Mr. Maragos, underlined that this donation will be utilized to the maximum extent. The acquisition of this new state-of-the-art drone is very important in strengthening the technological equipment of the Police, he said and stressed that the use of such technology, in various sectors, will contribute to the strengthening of policing.
On his part, Mr. Marangos expressed the readiness of the Blue Heart Foundation to stand by the side of the Cyprus Police, whenever there is a need for the benefit of society.
The Blue Heart Foundation is a Non-Profit Organization, member of MC Media Group. It focuses on people and their needs. It aims to immediately address emergencies and provide substantial support to our fellow human beings who experience financial poverty, bullying, violence and abuse and is based on a large network of people who voluntarily join forces.
This drone was received by the Department of Technological Development of the Hellenic Police Headquarters and during the handover ceremony a training flight took place outside the Headquarters.
Finally, it should be noted that "Drones" flights are carried out in accordance with air traffic regulations (Department of Civil Aviation) and regulations concerning the Protection of Personal Data, always within the framework of legality and respect for the citizen.
