Police in Paphos arrested a 32-year-old man to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of building burglary and theft.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nicolaou, on July 5 an employee of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus reported that between an unknown date and July 5, a copper cable switchboard worth €5,260 had been stolen from a station in the Konia area.
From on-site examinations, Mr. Nicolaou said, it was found that a side window of the substation had been breached, as a result of which the perpetrators managed to enter it and detach the bronze panel.
Further examinations revealed testimony against a 32-year-old man, who was arrested at 20:00 on Wednesday and taken into custody.

Police in Paphos arrested a 34-year-old man to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of residential burglary and theft.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on September 21, a 48-year-old foreign permanent resident of Cyprus reported to the Pegeia police station that on September 21 and between the hours of 11:00-16:00 his residence was burglarized and gold items were stolen, the value of which has not been estimated. The violation, Mr. Nicolaou said, was achieved by the kitchen window, which was breached with a sharp object.
Further examinations by the Police revealed testimony against a 34-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus, who was wanted. Yesterday, November 27, at 17:20, he was spotted by members of the Traffic Police, arrested and detained, Nicolaou said.

The two wanted men, aged 40 and 27, were handcuffed by police, against whom arrest warrants were pending in connection with a case of assault on supermarket employees committed on November 16.
Specifically, the incident took place in a supermarket in Limassol, when a customer while shopping for an unknown reason seems to have quarrelled with an employee of the supermarket.
Although the incident ended and the customer left the store, a short time later he returned with two friends to the supermarket where he attacked three employees.
It is worth noting that one of the employees appears to have been seriously injured and was taken to a private hospital for treatment.

A person is wanted by the Paphos Police to facilitate investigations into an investigated case of malicious damage.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, yesterday around 19:30 a report was given about a fire in a generator in the Moutallou area.
Members of the Police and Fire Brigade went to the scene and it was found that the fire had been maliciously set on a generator, which belongs to a 77-year-old Greek Cypriot and which was parked outside his house on the street.
The value of the generator is €2.300. Further examinations obtained testimony against a 25-year-old foreign woman, a resident of Paphos, who allegedly has differences with the complainant's son.
An arrest warrant has been issued against the 25-year-old and she is wanted.

Police arrested persons, including two minors.
According to an announcement, in the context of actions to prevent and combat serious and organized crime, the Famagusta Police Authority conducted a campaign yesterday and today in Paralimni and Xylofagou, respectively.
During the campaign, three foreigners were arrested, who were found to be staying illegally on the territory of the Republic. In addition, today at 2:30, two minors aged 15 and 16 were found in Paralimni, in whose possession burglary tools were found. They were arrested and detained.

Large quantities of pesticides, refrigerant gas cylinders and tobacco products were seized from a vehicle with 2 Greek Cypriot passengers, who attempted to cross from the occupied to the free areas from an uncontrolled point, near the Astromeritis-Zodia roadblock.
Specifically, according to the Department of Customs, on 20/11/2024, members of the Police and officers of the Department of Customs and Excise located and intercepted a vehicle with driver and co-driver 2 Greek Cypriots, which was trying to pass from the occupied to the free areas of the Republic of Cyprus from an uncontrolled point near the Astromeritis-Zodia roadblock.
During the inspection of his vehicle, it was found that they were illegally transporting a significant amount of pesticides, cooling gases while under the rear seats there were hidden quantities of tobacco products.
Specifically, the following were located and seized:
- 45.5 liters of pesticides of various types and brands and 1000ml (10 bottles of 100ml) of hormones for plants, which are not allowed to be transported from the occupied to the free areas according to the Green Line Regulations.
- 150Kg (10 bottles of 15Kg) of refrigerant gas R410 and 45Kg (5 bottles of 9Kg) of refrigerant gas R32, the circulation of which is prohibited in the European Union due to the destruction of the ozone layer.
- 7 boxes of 200 cigarettes and 3 boxes of 200 heated cigarettes of various brands, which did not bear the marking for the harmful of smoking in Greek and Turkish, nor the security feature and the unique traceability code, indicating that they were duty-free.
The driver and front passenger were arrested for flagrant offences and the vehicle was confiscated as a means of transporting the products mentioned. Later, they were released, after paying €17,500 for the out-of-court settlement of the offences committed and their vehicle was released with the payment of a penalty amount of €500.
On the occasion of the above seizure, the Department of Customs informs the public that, beyond its competence for the collection of duties and taxes, it has high on its priorities the protection and safety of citizens, society and the environment, contributing in this way to the improvement of the quality of life in our country.

Handcuffs to a 58-year-old British man who went to pass the Customs control at Paphos airport, with bags of cocaine in his pants pocket, was caught by YKAN.
According to an announcement, on 27/11/2024, following information received from YKAN at Paphos Airport, officers of the Department of Customs and Excise stopped for inspection a 58-year-old passenger with English nationality, who arrived on flight FR3131 from the United Kingdom.
During the radiodiagnostic and physical check of his hand luggage, nothing was found, but during the body search that followed, 2 nylon packages containing 32 grams of white substance each were found in his trouser pocket. The subsequent diagnostic test showed a positive indication of cocaine, which is why it was seized.

The passenger was arrested for a flagrant offence and handed over along with the seized quantity of cocaine to the YKAN for further investigation.
