Two incidents, one of malicious damage and one of burglary and theft, occurred at the 7th Primary School of Limassol in the previous days when unknown persons caused damage and stole a sum of money, causing concern to the educational community and parents.
The first incident took place on the evening of Thursday, November 21. According to police, unknown assailants damaged the door of the Art Gallery, entered the space and disturbed its interior, throwing chairs and objects on the floor. This is an incident of malicious damage.
The second and most serious incident occurred on Friday night, when unknown persons first breached a school room and then, after locating the keys, proceeded to open more classrooms. From these premises they stole envelopes containing about €200 that the students had collected to pay for a photographer. At the same time, the perpetrators caused extensive damage, using fire extinguishers inside the school halls.
Police were informed of the second incident today, while authorities are investigating the case, with the aim of identifying and arresting those responsible. Questions are raised about the security measures in the school area, since it is established that the perpetrators easily managed to enter the school units and act undisturbed.
