Pafos Live 2 November 2024

Members of the Police proceeded to the arrest of a 33-year-old man, as part of an investigation into drug trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm, which were found after a search of the residence of a 34-year-old man, carried out by members of the Police in Paphos, last May.

The case is being investigated by the Anti-Narcotics Service – YKAN (Pafos District Unit), in cooperation with the Pafos ICF.

In particular, as part of the investigation into the case of illegal possession of drugs with the intention of supplying to another person, evidence emerged against the 33-year-old.

A judicial arrest warrant was issued against him, under which he was arrested around 1.00 yesterday afternoon and detained for the purpose of police examinations.

The investigation of the case began after a quantity of cannabis with a gross weight of 10kg and 71g, as well as a loaded firearm, was found at the residence of another suspect, a 34-year-old man, on May 07. The 34-year-old had been stopped for inspection by members of the YKAN, while he was traveling by car in an area of Paphos.

Based on a court warrant, a search of the 34-year-old's residence followed, where members of the Police located the quantity of cannabis and the loaded firearm. The 34-year-old was arrested and detained. Laboratory tests showed that the amount of cannabis found was nine kilograms and 299 grams.
