The arrest of a 24-year-old man to facilitate investigations into an investigated case of theft from a residence, theft of a vehicle, causing a road collision and leaving a scene proceeded to the Pafos Police.
According to an announcement by the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, as part of the investigation of a road collision as well as car theft, the Police proceeded on Saturday morning to arrest a 24-year-old man based on a court warrant to facilitate the investigations.
Specifically, around 5 on Friday afternoon, the 24-year-old was allegedly driving a car on Athinon Avenue in Paphos, which under circumstances being investigated by the Police, collided with a car driven by a 29-year-old. Immediately after the collision, the suspect exited the vehicle he was driving and fled on foot.
During the examinations carried out by the members of the Police who went to the scene, it was found that the car was registered to a 63-year-old woman. The members of the Police contacted the owner of the vehicle where, according to her, after a check, she found that her car had been stolen while it was parked outside her house, while its keys were inside the house.

Police arrested two people, 58 and 59 years old, in connection with the arson of cars and a customs officer's house in Akaki. The two arrested, according to the relevant police statement, were detained.
It is recalled that the fire had broken out in the early hours of Friday in parked vehicles and the fire spread to two rooms in the basement of the residence, causing serious damage.
The attack was condemned by the Department of Customs and Excise stressing that its officers perform their duties on the basis of specific instructions and guidelines deriving from the legislation without discrimination and under no circumstances should they be targeted because of their official decisions and actions.
The reaction of the employees of the department was also strong, with the Customs Officers Branch of PASYDY, stressing that "this shameful and condemnable action is not only directed against the colleague, but also against all staff and constitutes an attack against the principles of law and order and democracy in general".

The Police were mobilized after a serious incident that occurred late last night in a supermarket in Limassol.
Specifically, a customer who was shopping at the supermarket, for an unknown reason, seems to have argued with an employee of the supermarket.
Although the incident ended and the customer left the store, a short time later he returned with two friends to the supermarket where he attacked three employees.
It is worth noting that one of the employees appears to have been seriously injured and was taken to a private hospital for treatment.
Members of the Police immediately rushed to the scene to investigate the incident and for on-site examinations.
It is expected that what was recorded by the closed circuit of the supermarket will also be studied, in order to identify the alleged perpetrator and to take statements from those who were eyewitnesses.

Two persons from Israel were attacked by four people in Nicosia early on Saturday.
According to police, at around 3:00 the two persons were moving in an area of old Nicosia when the four persons attacked them and stole their mobile phones. The four persons then fled.
The two persons from Israel were taken by ambulance to Nicosia Hospital where they received first aid and were discharged.
The police authorities detected the location of the mobile phone, as a result of which they were led to a specific premises where a 19-year-old foreigner was located.
Police handcuffed the 19-year-old, who handed over a mobile phone and a second mobile phone during searches.
The suspect is expected to be brought before a court on Sunday morning for a detention order. Police continue to investigate to identify the other perpetrators.

The horrific road accident, which is one of the worst in recent years in our country, happened twenty minutes after midnight on Archbishop Makarios III Street in Frenaros.
The saloon vehicle driven by an 18-year-old with four passengers was heading from Frenaros to Deryneia. At some point on the road collided with a saloon vehicle driven by the 44-year-old and coming from the opposite direction.
The 44-year-old attempted to turn right according to his course, aiming to enter his home. From the fierce collision, the vehicle in which the youths were traveling followed an out-of-control course and crashed initially into a prefabricated and then into trees.
The five occupants were trapped in the vehicle that turned into a lumpy mass of ironwork, while the second vehicle ignited, however, the 44-year-old driver and his 15-year-old son managed to get out of it.
A team and a rescue vehicle of the Fire Brigade rushed to the scene. With the use of rescue kits, the five young men were released, three of whom tragically died.
They are two 20-year-olds, Martinos Martis (co-driver) and Irenaeos Adamou (passenger), as well as 18-year-old Nikolas Koutsou (passenger), all from Frenaros. The scene was cordoned off from the first moment and examinations began by the Famagusta Traffic Police to establish the causes of the terrible accident. After hours of searching, the road was opened to traffic shortly after eleven o'clock on Sunday morning.

Another person lost her life on the asphalt. This is 20-year-old Irene Kontogiorgou from Greece, who was a passenger in a car involved in an accident that occurred in Nicosia.
According to a police statement, at around 3.10am, a rental car driven by a 20-year-old man on Archangelos Michael Avenue in Engomi, also having as a passenger a 20-year-old and passengers in the back seat five other persons (three men and two women – aged 28, 21, 20 and two 20-year-olds), at some point on the road, reaching a roundabout, under circumstances that are being investigated. It deviated from its course, collided with the wall of an adjacent building, as well as with a traffic sign, where it came to a standstill.
The collision injured the 20-year-old passenger and the two 20-year-old girls and were transported by ambulances to Nicosia General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor certified the death of a 20-year-old woman.
As for the 20-year-old injured man, it was found that he suffered an elbow fracture and after receiving first aid he was discharged, while the second 20-year-old was detained for further examinations.
The driver of the car underwent a final alcohol test with a reading of 55μg% instead of 9μg% which is the permissible limit.
A court warrant was issued against him and he was arrested for facilitating interrogations.
The Nicosia Traffic Police is investigating the causes of the traffic collision.

Three vehicles were seized, and 90 traffic violations were recorded on Friday and Saturday morning, police said amid a campaign for safe driving.
One car was seized after the 35-year-old driver was over five times the permissible legal alcohol limit. Two motorbikes were also seized.
Police said the traffic violations mostly concerned drunk driving, use of a mobile phone while driving and lacking proper paperwork to drive.
The aim of the campaign is to stop serious accidents and clampdown on traffic violations.
