Hunting dogs belonging to three different hunters were stolen in recent days from areas of the village of Akoursos.

There is great unrest in the area since the hunting dogs stolen were of great value, while the period chosen by the perpetrators is particularly difficult for the owners who cannot replace them immediately.

As part of the examinations during the investigation of a complaint concerning a burglary of premises in the Limassol district, the Police arrested two persons aged 35 and 30 for facilitating the examinations.

Specifically, on 11/11/2024, a resident of the Limassol district reported to the Police that unknown persons broke into his tavern and stole a metal box inside the cash register, which contained a sum of money.

During the investigation of the case, it was found that the perpetrators used a car that had been reported as stolen since 4/11/2024 at the Paphos ICF.

The car in question was found half an hour after midnight yesterday, parked on a Limassol road, in which the 35-year-old was located.

He was arrested by the members of the Police and taken into custody while during the investigation of the case, a testimony emerged against the 30-year-old and a court warrant was issued for his arrest.

The 30-year-old was located yesterday afternoon and arrested under the court warrant pending against him and taken into custody.

Around 9:20 p.m. Yesterday, members of the Pafos Traffic Police, during traffic police checks, stopped for inspection, a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old man, who was not wearing a seat belt.

A check found that the 36-year-old was driving the vehicle in question with a cancelled registration of the vehicle, without a certificate of fitness, with a broken windscreen, and was subjected to a final alcohol test with a reading of 64μg% instead of 9μg%, which is the legal limit, as a driver who drove without a driver's license for three years.

The 36-year-old also underwent a preliminary drug test with a positive indication.

Police arrested a 52-year-old man yesterday as part of an investigation into a case involving illegal possession and transport of a firearm and explosives, as well as illegal possession of drugs.

Specifically, yesterday, following an evaluation of information, a court warrant searched the 52-year-old's home and premises, in the Nicosia district, by members of the ICF, OPE and Canine Branch.

During the search, an air gun, 152 shotgun cartridges, eight firearm cartridges, as well as a small amount of dry plant matter were located and seized.

Then, the members of the Police went to a cemetery in the area, where they were found under a headstone, in a clothing bag, a pistol, nine full cartridges, a beam and 15 full hunting cartridges.

The 52-year-old was arrested on a court warrant and detained to facilitate interrogations, and is expected to appear before a court today for a detention order.

A large number of gold items, which are being investigated if they are stolen, were found by the Police, following a search of a jewellery shop in Nicosia, carried out by members of the ICF of Nicosia. The owner of the premises, a 78-year-old man, was arrested and detained for police examinations.

The search of the premises was carried out in the context of an investigation into a number of cases of burglary and theft, committed in the Nicosia district and for which two other persons, aged 19 and 22, were arrested last Sunday, November 10. Under questioning, the two suspects allegedly admitted to committing a total of ten (10) burglaries and thefts, committed between February and November, 2024, in the Nicosia district. On Monday, the Nicosia District Court issued an eight-day detention order for the purpose of police examinations.

The examinations that followed revealed evidence that the 19-year-old and 22-year-old sold part of the stolen property at the 78-year-old's premises in Nicosia. After a judicial search warrant was issued, members of the ICF Nicosia conducted a search of the premises yesterday, where they found a large number of gold items, which are being investigated for stolen goods, as well as two gold alloys, with a total weight of 62.7 grams, the origin of which is being investigated.

Following the investigation, the owner of a house that happened to be burgled, identified one of the pieces of gold found on the 78-year-old's premises, as part of the property that had been stolen from her residence.

Upon identification of the stolen gold, the members of the Police proceeded to arrest the 78-year-old for the offense of illegal possession of property. Questioned by members of the police, the 78-year-old allegedly admitted to buying gold without issuing any relevant receipts, while making various allegations, which are being investigated.

The Paphos Police arrested a 35-year-old man to facilitate investigations into two pending theft cases.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on Tuesday morning, a 35-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus was identified and arrested against whom judicial arrest warrants were pending for two cases.

One case, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, concerns the theft of a vehicle worth 4,000 euros, which was committed on October 27 and belonged to a 59-year-old Greek Cypriot.

The second case concerned a case of theft of oil worth 400 euros, which was committed between October 26 and 28, 2024, from the tanks of boring-type vehicles belonging to a 44-year-old man from Paphos.  

Regarding the second case, Mr. Nikolaou continued, two other persons are wanted, a 27-year-old and a 40-year-old.

A 20-year-old man from Dasaki, Achna, appeared on November 12 before the court of the British Bases of Dhekelia and was released on bail of €5,000 after being charged with causing actual grievous bodily harm when he stabbed his father in the leg.

The defendant, who will answer his charges when he returns to court on November 16, has now been banned from entering his home and must stay at his uncle's house until further notice.

It is believed that the cause of the fight on November 7 was a mobile phone and resulted in the defendant's father being admitted to Larnaka General Hospital for surgery on his wound.

BB police were alerted by the defendant's brother early in the evening when his father was taken to hospital and as a result, officers confirmed that the accused surrendered to authorities.

Dhekelia Senior Lieutenant Phanos Christodoulou said: "It was a very serious incident and was dealt with by the BB armed police team as required by law. " Thankfully, the victim was not seriously injured and is fine, but we must ensure that this does not go unpunished and if the accused is found guilty, he will receive the maximum sentence under the law."

The 73-year-old H.G., uncle of the main defendant in the case, Joshua Poso Epiphaniou, made an admission today to complicity after committing a premeditated murder of Angelos Pericleous and that he destroyed clothes and shoes, which could be used as evidence in court.

The 73-year-old changed his response to the charges he faced, admitting through his lawyer Onofri Economou, offences that indicate involvement in the attempt of the accused as the perpetrator of the murder to eliminate evidence related to the crime committed.

He pleaded guilty to six offences, including arson, which carries a prison sentence of up to 14 years if convicted.

In detail, the charges he faces and pleaded guilty, which were read out by the prosecution's spokeswoman Christia Kythreotou:

>> Conspiracy to commit a felony: In the Nicosia district he conspired with Joshua Poso Epiphaniou, as they committed the charge of arson.

>> Arson: In Paliometocho of Nicosia district he deliberately and illegally set fire with the defendant to a car owned by a person from Belgium.

>> Causing malicious damage: They deliberately and illegally caused damage to the vehicle belonging to the Belgian national, amounting to €39.825.

>> Causing malicious damage: Together with his accused nephew, the 73-year-old deliberately and illegally caused malicious damage to the hangar of the Paliometochos firing range amounting to €1,779.05.

>> Destruction of evidence: With the defendant of premeditated Epiphany, I destroyed clothes and shoes possible, knowing that they could serve as evidence in court proceedings.

>> Aiding and abetting after committing a felony: While knowing that the 26-year-old was guilty of a criminal offence of premeditated murder, he provided assistance to enable him to escape punishment, i.e. assisting him in setting fire to the vehicle and destroying the objects.

The whereabouts of 31-year-old Angelos Pericleous were lost on the evening of April 19, 2023. The next morning the vehicle he was driving was found burned, but he was not located.

Two foreigners from Syria ended up in hospitals in Limassol after a fight broke out at a house on Tuesday night.

According to police, the men met to resolve financial disputes involving vehicle repair. Other people arrived at the scene with the conversation ending in an argument and those involved getting caught.

The fight injured two Syrians who were taken to hospitals in the city, with one suffering from a head wound and a second wound to the hand.

After receiving First Aid, they were subsequently discharged.

Police are investigating the case, looking into the offences of assault, causing actual harm and malicious damage.

Three people were arrested for assaulting police officers on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, yesterday afternoon, a 43-year-old man and two 28-year-olds were arrested and detained to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of assault on police officers, reckless and dangerous driving, failure to comply with a police signal and more.

Specifically, yesterday afternoon, members of the Police followed with their service vehicle, a car in which three persons were traveling, which was being driven dangerously and recklessly on the coastal road of Voroklini.

Using a siren and lights, members of the Police tried to intercept the vehicle, but the driver of which allegedly developed speed, while both the driver and the passenger of the said vehicle were seen throwing objects out of the windows.

Eventually, it was possible to intercept this vehicle in a village in the Larnaka district.

The three occupants of the vehicle allegedly resisted the attempt of the members of the Police to arrest them for the offences they committed and attacked them, causing them actual bodily harm.

The three persons were arrested and detained, while the two police officers as well as the 43-year-old arrested man visited Larnaka General Hospital where they were given first aid and discharged.

The three arrested were detained and this morning they are expected to be taken to the Larnaca District Court for the procedure for issuing a detention order. Under questioning, one of the 28-year-olds allegedly admitted to possession of a small amount of the crystal drug, which they threw out of the car.

The Athienou Police Station in cooperation with the YKAN (Larnaka Unit) continue the examinations.

A 16-year-old student in Limassol lost consciousness and was taken to Limassol Hospital, only to be found to be due to substance abuse. The incident took place in late October and blood samples taken from the minor found traces of cocaine and cannabis in her system. Then the authorities were informed and the tangle of the case began to unravel.

The members of the Limassol YKAN and the Child Sexual Abuse Offences Investigation Section of the Police Headquarters proceeded to the arrest of a 22-year-old foreigner, following the testimony of the minor. She claimed him to be the person she last saw before she lost consciousness and that the young man offered her cocaine but did not remember whether she used it.

As Filenews learns, the detention order of the 22-year-old expired today and the investigators took the young man to the Court asking for the case to be registered and referred for trial before the Permanent Assize Court of Limassol. The defendant faces offences of supplying drugs to the minor as well as sexual exploitation.

The 16-year-old had gone out with her friends in the area of central Limassol. After consuming alcohol, drugs and pills, she began to feel unwell. At some point she decided to leave but was found in a faint condition in a square in the area and was transferred by ambulance to Limassol Hospital where she was given First Aid. After she recovered, she named the 22-year-old as the person who had met with her before she lost consciousness. She also claimed that he tried to sexually exploit her.  She also said that a small quantity of drugs had been obtained from the young defendant twice before.

During today's proceedings, the defendant's lawyer objected to his client's detention. In the end, the Court, after hearing both sides, ruled that the defendant would remain free under restrictive conditions. However, because he did not meet the conditions, he was eventually detained.

An elderly man in Limassol faced justice, admitting that he was enraged after an argument with his wife, took the hammer and beat her in anger. The case could be a crime series script. The events took place yesterday morning at the couple's home.

As Filenews is aware, the incident happened around 7am on Monday, when, after an argument between the couple, the 85-year-old took the hammer and began hitting his wife on the head, causing her serious injuries. In the house there was a relative who heard the voices and got in the way to prevent the worst. According to the same information, the person in question saw the 85-year-old struggling with the victim, holding the hammer in his hand. He said he saw the elderly man hit his wife's head on the kitchen counter. After repelling the 85-year-old, an ambulance was called and transferred the elderly woman to hospital.

Members of the Limassol Police Department immediately arrived at the scene, with the 85-year-old verbally admitting that he attacked the victim. After pointing out the hammer with which he hit her, he was then taken for questioning to the offices of the ICF of Limassol. The suspect allegedly confessed to committing the offences, claiming that before the attack on his wife, he was verbally attacked by her, which angered him and then he attacked her.

The 85-year-old was brought before the Limassol District Court today for a detention order. The suspect's lawyer did not object to the detention request and the court ordered that he be taken to detention for a period of three days. The offences against the elderly are investigated for acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, assault causing grievous bodily harm and psychological violence.

The victim is hospitalized in a private hospital in Limassol and has a traumatic wound to the scalp, both on the front and back, as well as a hematoma on the hands.

A large number of goods, which appear to be counterfeits, were located and confiscated during a coordinated operation, carried out yesterday, in the Famagusta district, by the Branch for Combating Offences of Intellectual Property Theft and Illegal Betting of the Police Cybercrime Subdirectorate and the Department of Customs.

The purpose of the operation was to combat the illegal trafficking of goods infringing intellectual property rights. During the meeting, members of the Police and the Department of Customs and Excise conducted searches at three premises in the Famagusta district, where around 570 products, which appear to be counterfeits, were found and confiscated. The majority of the products seized are clothing.

The seized products were received by officers of the Department of Customs, which undertook the further investigation of the cases.

The arrest of 2 Greek Cypriots aged 21 and 23 respectively was carried out yesterday 12/11/2024 by members of the Xylotympou Police Station in relation to investigated offences of theft and conspiracy to commit a felony, offences committed on 06/11/2024 in Ormidia.

Specifically, on 06/11/2024, a bakery owner in Ormidia reported to the Xylotymbou Police Station that two persons, after entering the bakery, stole a charity donation box containing, according to the complainant, the amount of  €200-300.

After evaluating and collecting information, the members of the Xylotympou Police Station secured testimony that the 21-year-old and 23-year-old were involved in the case, who were arrested on 12/11/2024 under court arrest warrants.

Under questioning, the two persons admitted to committing the above offences and were subsequently charged in writing to be summoned later before a Court.

The Xylotympou Police Station is investigating the case.
