Switzerland will allocate six million euros to Cyprus for the purpose of integrating migrants into Cypriot society.
To this end, Deputy Minister of Migration Nikolas Ioannides will travel to Switzerland next Wednesday for discussions.
The above was mentioned today by the Deputy Minister before the Finance Committee of the Parliament during the examination of the first budget of the Deputy Ministry.
Ioannides added that the integration strategy will be implemented in 2025. Regarding the irregular migrants who were in the buffer zone and who moved to Kofinou, he said that they will all leave Cyprus, since some will be accepted by some EU countries and the rest will be deported.
Regarding the Nouri barbed wire, the Deputy Minister of Migration said that a decision has been taken to dismantle it and other state services will take it for their needs.
Asked by MPs about unaccompanied minors, Ioannidis said that from 2025 the responsibility for handling them will pass to the Deputy Ministry of Migration and the problem will be mapped so that the transfer can take place smoothly. Some communities have been contacted on the issue and the discussion is ongoing.
Regarding the ghettoization of city centers, Mr. Ioannidis stressed that contacts are being made with local authorities and the police to change this situation. There will be operations on the issue, he added.
On the observation that the cities were filled with barber shops, opened by foreigners, some of which are illegal, the Deputy Minister said that this is a matter for the professional organization to deal with, in conjunction with the local authorities.
