The way is open for the announced acquisition of Papantoniou Supermarkets by Sklavenitis Supermarkets after the green light they received from the Commission for the Protection of Competition.

The PSC decision
The Hellenic Commission for the Protection of Competition (hereinafter the "Commission") announces that at its meeting held on 17/10/2024, it approved the merger for the acquisition of the share capital of C.A.C. PAPANTONIOU TRADING LIMITED by HELLENIC SUPERMARKETS SKLAVENITIS COMMERCIAL SOCIETE ANONYME, through GUEDO HOLDINGS LIMITED.
This concentration was notified to the Commission Office on 12/07/2024.
The Commission, at its meeting dated 17/10/2024, after taking into account the Written Report of the Office dated 15/10/2024, found that the said merger although falling within the scope of the Merger Control of Undertakings Law of 2014, Law No. 83(I)/2014 (hereinafter the 'Law') and the concept of concentration, however, does not cast doubt on its compatibility with the functioning of competition on the market.
Therefore, the Commission decided not to oppose and to declare the merger compatible with the operation of competition in the market, in accordance with the provisions of Article 22 of the Law.
The full text of the Commission's decision will be published in the Official Gazette of the Republic and posted on its website.
