Police conducted coordinated raids on illegal gambling operations across four districts on Thursday night, resulting in the discovery of 72 individuals engaged in poker games and the collection of outstanding fines.
The operation, carried out between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., targeted four establishments in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos. Various police departments participated in the raids.
During the operation, authorities seized €2,045in cash, numerous poker chips and playing cards, as well as computers.
Five individuals with outstanding fine warrants totalling €3,300 were also identified, with the fines subsequently collected by the police.
Those found gambling were either formally charged or summoned to appear at district offices to provide statements. The premises’ operators will also face questioning.
In Paphos, one establishment was found to be operating without a proper license or alcohol permit.
Police is continuing investigations.
