PHEDON -PROSTITUTION, DRUGS AND FIGHTS WITH CLUBS IN THE STRUCTURE WHERE THE FIRE BROKE OUT

 Filenews 14 October 2024

Inadequacy against the state authorities and the government, on the occasion of the outbreak, for the second time, of a fire in a shelter for unaccompanied minors in Paphos, denounces the Mayor of the city, Phedon Phedonos.

Speaking on state television, Mr. Phedonos said that for two and a half years a shelter for minors has been operating illegally in Pafos, since, based on international standards and the obligations of the Republic of Cyprus, the creation of a permanent accommodation facility for minors in a hotel unit is prohibited.

"The decision provided for the minors to be accommodated there only for two months, due to emergency and urgency," he said. The Mayor of Pafos claimed that, in the facility, many problems have been caused, such as prostitution of minors, drug trafficking and fights with clubs.

Phedonos said the authorities know everything but "we live in the dictatorship of the mediocre."
