Another project of major environmental and social importance for the city of Pafos and the wider urban area is entering into implementation.
Recently, the public presentation of the architectural plans for the formation of the Eastern Linear Park (boundaries of Pafos – Geroskipou – Konia) was made by the Office of the Consultant Architects Chrysanthos E. Chrysanthou & Associates.
The Park will start from the area of the terminal roundabout of the Limassol Paphos Motorway and will end at the area of Limnaria, in Kato Paphos.
Speaking at the presentation, the Mayor of Pafos, Mr. Phedon Phedonos, described the project as one of the most important ever done in the Pafos District. Noting that the natural stream flowing east of the city of Pafos is the "border" of the Municipality of Pafos with the Municipality of East Pafos will be formed and given to the citizens, he said that a total of 6.5 kilometers will be created, along with the branches, which will include a playground, pedestrian zone, bicycle path, outdoor gym, sports and rest areas, information points, He added that the Park, with a total length of about 6.5 km, will function as a natural extension of the Coastal Promenade on the coastal front of the two Municipalities.
The estimated total cost of the project is in the order of €9.250.000 including the cost of studies and VAT. This amount does not include the cost of land expropriation, which has not yet been estimated. The municipality of Pafos plans to create, at a later stage, the western linear park that will start from the coastal area of the Tombs of the Kings to Mesogi.
