PAPHOS - DEPARTMENT STORE HAS SUSPENDED OPERATION UNTIL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED

Since yesterday, the department store has suspended its work, in which part of the false ceiling suddenly collapsed, resulting in minor injuries to three customers of the store.

The management of the company that manages the store deeply regrets the unfortunate incident. In a company announcement, it is stated that immediately after the incident, all safety procedures were activated and the competent services were called for immediate assistance to the injured, whose health, fortunately, is not in any danger.

The company assures that the safety of customers and staff has been and remains its top priority. They are working closely with the competent authorities to investigate the causes of the incident, as well as to immediately remedy the problem.

The company has already suspended the operation of the store, and all necessary actions are in progress to fully repair the damage and replace the false ceiling.

Three individuals injured in a ceiling collapse at Superhome Centre in Paphos’s Neon Mall have been discharged from Paphos General Hospital, whilst authorities investigate the incident, according to Michalis Nicolaou, Assistant Police Director of Operations in Paphos.

The incident occurred around 12:30 local time on Tuesday when a section of false ceiling collapsed in an operational store within a larger department store complex.

Officials from multiple agencies and technical engineers from Paphos Municipality, attended the scene to assess the situation.

Initial examinations revealed that the collapsed ceiling section measured approximately 21 by 22 metres.

Nicolaou confirmed that three people sustained minor injuries during the collapse. They were taken to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital, where they received treatment before being discharged.

The circumstances surrounding the ceiling’s collapse are currently under investigation.
