It breaks bones not only in "aristocratic" areas but also in areas for ordinary mortals, as shown by the record table of the market rent of apartments with prices as of September 1, 2024, which the Ministry of Interior uses to determine the amount of "affordable" rent.
Affordable rent will be offered by owners of residential units who will be financed with up to €35,000 in order to renovate and then rent them for at least four years at 70% of the market rent, i.e. the rent applicable in the market.
As far as Nicosia is concerned, in Engomi singles are rented (on average) for €625, two-bedroom apartments for €900 and three-bedroom apartments for €1,045.
In Nicosia itself, the average rental of a single bedroom is €575, a two-bedroom apartment €850 and a three-bedroom apartment €950.
As far as the Limassol district is concerned, the average for renting a unit in Germasogeia is €1.200, for a two-bedroom apartment €1.500 and for a three-bedroom apartment €1.850. In Agios Athanasios the average of a single is €1,000, a two-bedroom €1,450 and a three-bedroom €1,850. Similar prices prevail in other areas of Limassol.
In the municipal district of Ano Polemidia the apartments are almost "tsama", if one considers that the average for a single room is €650, for a two-bedroom apartment €700 and for a three-bedroom apartment €875.
In Paphos rents are "bearable" if we take into account that in the Municipality of Pafos the average rent of a unit is €450, a two-bedroom €650 and a three-bedroom €750.
In Geroskipou the singles are rented for €373, the two-bedroom apartments for €600 and the three-bedroom apartments for 675. In other words, apartments even in the central areas of Paphos are rented at almost half the price of apartments in Limassol.
In the district of Larnaka (in the city of Larnaka itself) singles are rented for €650, two-bedroom apartments for 800 and three-bedroom apartments for €1,000. In Aradippou the singles are rented for €500, the two-bedroom apartments for €675 and the three-bedroom apartments for €800.
As far as Famagusta is concerned, in Ayia Napa singles are rented for €400, two-bedroom apartments for €525 and three-bedroom apartments for 675. In Paralimni, singles are rented for €400, two-bedroom apartments for €525 and three-bedroom apartments for €700.
In a relevant accompanying text, it is clarified that the rents refer to new conventional apartments or apartments that have been completely renovated recently, without furniture and are addressed to citizens of the Republic of Cyprus, permanent residents of Cyprus.
