They serve patients blindly, putting them unknowingly at risk, say dentists, who informed Parliament's Health Committee that the Health Insurance Organisation continues to deny them access to the electronic files of GHS beneficiaries.
In fact, as the representatives of the Pancyprian Dental Association reported, when they asked the HIO to give them the right to access patients' files, they received the answer that "the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection does not allow it".
"We turned to the Commissioner, who contradicted the HIO and asked her to participate in the next meeting we will have with the Organization," they said.
"A person who has undergone major surgery or is taking specific medication is at risk when the dentist he goes to for cleaning does not know about it," the dentists said, calling for the intervention of Parliament's Health Committee.
