Peyia is hosting from today, Sunday, until Tuesday one of this year's two meetings of the Consortium of European Building Control (CEBC), organized by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus.
An announcement from the Ministry of Interior states that the conference will focus on developments in the field of building control and will present the new licensing procedures applied by Cyprus, in the context of the effort to modernize and simplify development licensing.
The organization by the Cypriot Ministry of Interior of the meeting of the Consortium is an important recognition of our country's role in the field of building control. The exchange of views and information on existing and new policies is essential for the authorities of our country in the continuous effort to improve the practices applied at national level, for the benefit primarily of serving citizens, development and ultimately the economy of the country.
CEBC's responsibilities are to collect, analyse and compare information from its member states with a view to adopting and implementing best practice models in the building control sector in Europe.
The aim of the Consortium is the exchange of know-how and cooperation between the participating states in order to strengthen the legislative framework and standards governing building control, as well as to find solutions to problems and challenges that exist in the field of permitting.
The Ministry of Interior has been a member of the Consortium since 2004, representing the Republic of Cyprus, while the Director of Technical Services of the Ministry Kyriakos Kouros is a member of the Board of Directors of the Consortium.
