"To not let our dreams become wreckage" The start of the 25th Road Safety Week was announced today by the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Mr. Marios Hartsiotis, during a press conference at the Traffic Education Park. This year's Road Safety Week will last from the 21st to the 26th of October 2024 and during its duration actions and actions will be developed to inform and raise public awareness on the subject of road safety.

Among other things during the Road Safety Week, there will be a special event open to the public, an awareness cycling route in memory of the victims of fatal road collisions and a competition on the popular social media platform TIK TOK. Co-organizers of this year's Road Safety Week are the Cyprus Police (Traffic Department) and CNP Insurance. Today's press conference was attended by the Minister of Justice and Public Order Mr. Marios Hartsiotis, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Alexis Vafeadis, the Chief of Police Mr. Themistos Arnaoutis and the rest of the Police leadership, the First Executive Director of CNP Cyprus Insurance Holdings Mr. Takis Phidias and the General Manager of CNP Insurance Mr. Andreas Stylianou. Announcing the start of the Road Safety Week, the Minister of Justice and Public Order emphasized the need to cultivate good road behavior in our country, at the same time underlining that the key to achieving road safety lies mainly in the individual responsibility of each individual. Mr. Hartsiotis also referred to the need to strengthen the sense of social responsibility and respect for the Road Traffic Code, with the aim of reducing the number of fatal and serious road collisions in our country. The Minister also referred to the new Strategic Plan for road safety 2021-2030, listing projects and actions that have been implemented or launched, such as the establishment and operation of the Driver Training School, the completion of the installation of the photo-marking system and the development of further actions training and public awareness. For his part, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works expressed the will of the Road Safety Council to continue its actions to reduce fatal and serious road collisions. The Chief of Police, Mr. Themistos Arnaoutis, emphasized the need for everyone to be aware of the issue of road safety, as it is an issue that concerns us all. He also referred to the multiple and targeted, as he said, actions of the Police, in matters of road safety, both in the field of suppression, and in the field of prevention and public awareness. At the conference, the First Executive Director of CNP Cyprus Group, Mr. Takis Phidias, and the General Manager of CNP Insurance, Mr. Andreas Stylianou, also addressed the conference. on the issues of road safety and the adoption of road awareness. During the conference, CNP Insurance handed over to a representative of the Headquarters Traffic Department five pairs of simulation glasses, which are used in the training lectures of the Police, in relation to road safety.
