A 16-year-old who was driving his parents' vehicle, unknowingly, caused an accident on a Paphos road. His vehicle collided sideways with a young woman's vehicle. There was only material damage and fortunately no injuries.

The 16-year-old panicked after the accident and fled the scene only to be later spotted by members of the traffic police. His parents were also taken to the police station.

A 35-year-old foreigner was found positive in a drug test, whose vehicle was stopped for inspection last night.

Unpaid fine warrants are pending against the foreigner and he was arrested by the police. Last night another 20 drivers were reported for various traffic violations.

Police also arrested in Paphos a 46-year-old foreigner who was wanted in the Nicosia and Limassol districts for cases of burglary, theft and domestic violence.

The Paphos Police proceeded to the arrest of a person in order to facilitate investigations into an investigated case of forgery and circulation of a forged document at Paphos airport.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou on Tuesday, around 14:00, a man presented himself in the departures area of ​​Paphos airport bound for the Netherlands presenting a residence permit and a Polish travel document.

From a check made on this particular document it became clear that it was fake. He himself, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, currently denies the commission of the crimes. He was therefore arrested on a warrant and taken into custody.  

The man had arrived in Cyprus on October 23, 2024 on a flight from Brussels presenting the same residence permit and had been granted entry. However, during his departure, the forged document was detected and he was arrested.

Investigations continue in the Limassol district under the strictest secrecy, with the aim of dismantling money laundering networks and money laundering offences.

The operation had been planned for weeks, with authorities closely monitoring the movements of specific individuals.

As Filenews learns, since yesterday's operation, an amount of €500,000 in cash has been identified and committed to various targets, which confirms the information that the operation focuses on money laundering.

The large-scale operation, which has been taking place since Monday morning (28/10) in the Limassol district, is under the guidance and support of Europol and Eurojust, in close cooperation with the Cypriot authorities.

A large number of members of the Force from various police departments, as well as from government departments, participate in it in order to locate evidence, such as money and other important items.

As we are told, the investigations continue under the utmost secrecy, with the police authorities wanting to keep the gigantic operation out of the spotlight.

As Filenews reported yesterday, searches were carried out in apartmentshousespremises and businesses owned by foreign persons. Under the microscope have been put the economic activities of individuals as well as the origin of their funds.

Cyprus Mail

Police carried out a series of raids on Monday in the context of an operation to clamp down on organised crime, including last month’s fire at the Nicosia racecourse.

A police press office spokesman told the Cyprus Mail that the operation included investigations into cases of arson.

Three people were arrested for various crimes, while eight others had warrants pending for unpaid fines.

The fire at the racecourse broke out on September 25 in a generator and a fuel supply tank at the horse racing track facilities in Ayios Dhometios, Nicosia.
