The Cybercrime Sub-Directorate informs citizens about new types of fraud through sms messages.
Specifically, fraudsters send mass sms messages with random recipients, falsely pretending to be a company-cryptocurrency exchange, where they report that unauthorized access to their account from another country has been detected, calling unsuspecting citizens to contact directly the phone stated in the suspicious message.
The purpose of fraudsters is to deceive the public and give away their account passwords.
The police inform the public that this is a scam and that the messages are fake.
The public is asked to be particularly careful and not to respond in case of receiving such a message, to use two-factor security for all their electronic accounts and NEVER to hand over their passwords and access details to any third party.
