A 23-year-old man was arrested in Limassol for allegedly purchasing several mobile phones using stolen credit cards. The suspect, along with others, reportedly bought the phones using fraudulent means.
The arrest came after the suspect was identified by an employee at the store where the phones were purchased.
According to police, on June 5, an online order was placed at a mobile phone shop for six devices, valued at approximately €8,000, using three different foreign credit cards. The payments were processed without issue at the time.
A month later, the shop was informed that the credit cards used were stolen, prompting the return of the funds to the original cardholders.
On Thursday, the shop received another online order for a phone worth €1,320. The following day, two individuals arrived to collect it. One of the men was recognised by an employee as having collected phones during the June transactions.
Police arrested the 23-year-old suspect, while the second individual managed to flee.
The suspect was brought before the Limassol District Court and remanded for six days.
