Four packages, containing cocaine and an explosive device, were found and confiscated yesterday by the Police at a house in Limassol. To facilitate interrogations, the 18-year-old occupant of the house was arrested.
The search of the 18-year-old's home was carried out yesterday afternoon by members of the YKAN, pursuant to a court warrant. During the proceedings, four nylon packages, containing cocaine, with a total gross weight of 22.7 grams, were located and seized. A precision scale and an improvised explosive device were also located and confiscated.
The 18-year-old was arrested for a flagrant offence and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man at dawn to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of illegal possession of property. The 23-year-old was spotted by a member of the police trying to breach the doors of parked vehicles.
Specifically, around 1:15 a.m yesterday, a member of the Police, who was off duty, spotted in an open area in Nicosia, a person who was trying to breach the doors of parked vehicles, using various keys. Before the officer could approach the suspect, he managed to open the door of a car and began searching inside it.
The officer stopped the suspect and then it was determined that he was a 23-year-old. A pair of sunglasses and two lighters were found and confiscated in his possession, which the 23-year-old reportedly said did not belong to him.
The 23-year-old was arrested for the offence of unlawful possession of property and detained to facilitate interrogations.

Police have arrested a 42-year-old resident of Nicosia to facilitate investigations into two investigated cases of burglary and theft committed last August in Nicosia.
The first case was reported on August 17, 2024, by a resident of Nicosia. According to the complainant, between the hours of 1.30am. and 10 a.m. That same day, unknown assailants broke into her home and stole a small amount of money and four credit cards. According to the complainant, her credit cards appear to have been used in automated teller machines, resulting in the theft of more than €2,000 from her bank account.
The second case was reported on 31 August 2024. In her complaint, the complainant, a resident of Nicosia, stated that between the hours of 1.30 a.m. And at 7 a.m., unknown assailants broke into her home and stole two purses containing a small amount of money and a number of credit cards.
The investigation of the two cases revealed testimony against a 42-year-old resident of Nicosia, on the basis of which a court warrant was issued for his arrest. The 42-year-old was located shortly after midnight today and arrested for facilitating interrogations.
The Burglary Unit of the ICF Nicosia is investigating the case.

A defensive grenade in a usable condition was found by a citizen on Wednesday afternoon (04/09) in a field in a village in the Nicosia District.
According to the Police, around 18:45 the citizen informed the authorities, who rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
A pyrotechnic technician also went to the scene and dismantled the grenade. As has been seen, it seems to have been placed on this point recently.
The finding was received as evidence and sent for scientific examination.

The 64-year-old is now facing justice in the case of underage girls who claimed they were sexually harassed by him. The 64-year-old defendant was brought before the Limassol District Court today as his eight-day detention order expired.
The investigators of the Child Sexual Abuse Offences Investigation Branch of the Police Headquarters proceeded to register the case before the District Court. The case was registered with the judge, Theodoros Symeonidis, setting a hearing for September 19 when the defendant will be asked to answer the indictment.
As filenews learns, the multi-page indictment includes 15 charges related to offences against three complaining girls. Specifically, the indictment includes offences of sexual abuse and harassment, indecent assault and common assault.
The Court ordered that the accused be released on restrictive conditions and an order was issued not to approach the defendants less than 100 meters away and not to communicate with them in any way. The defendant applied for legal aid with the Court instructing that a report by the Welfare Office be prepared. After completing the procedure, the 64-year-old was transferred back to the private clinic where he remains for treatment
It is recalled that the Police, from the first moment of the 64-year-old's complaint in the robbery case, separated the case concerning the robbery itself from the complaints of the underage girls, who are under the custody of the state.
The chronicle of the case
The 64-year-old had reported to police that he had been robbed. The night before, just before midnight, the 16-year-old had visited him in his hotel room. Then they departed to go to a fast food restaurant. He said the minor told him to stop by and pick up her 15-year-old friend, whom the 64-year-old knew personally. They reached a dead end, where the 15-year-old was waiting for them while three other people accompanied her. The 18-year-old and the youths attacked the 64-year-old, firing pepper spray into his eyes, then dragged him out of the vehicle and threw him to the ground. After beating him, they stole his wallet with €5,000 and they all fled, he said. Seven people are charged in the robbery case, including the complainants in the alleged sexual abuse case.

An unprecedented case of rape, kidnapping and abuse was registered today in the Nicosia District Court, against a doctor, with his ex-partner as the victim.
The doctor faces a total of 12 charges of rape, kidnapping and wrongful restraint, assault and causing bodily harm and other offences.
The complaint was made on August 24 by a woman at the ICF of Nicosia who found the courage and recounted what she experienced at the hands of her ex-boyfriend. According to what she testified, on the same day at 4.30 in the morning, she was visited by this doctor at her home, who allegedly abused, immobilized and raped her.
The police acted immediately and on August 25 arrested the doctor in question and presented him before a court which ordered his detention for eight days. On September 2, his detention order was renewed for another three days and today the arrested man appeared again in court where a criminal case was registered against him on very serious charges.
The police will ask the court for the case to be referred for trial by the Assize Court, since the charge of rape carries a prison sentence of up to life imprisonment.
At the same time, the police will ask that the accused remain in custody until his trial, due to the seriousness of the offences he faces. The proceedings are still ongoing before a district judge.
