A suspicious object, namely a projectile, was found at the bottom of the sea in the Akamas area and alerted the Pafos Maritime and Port Police.
According to a spokesperson for the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, at around 13:45 on Wednesday information was given about a suspicious object at the bottom of the sea in the Akamas area.
Specifically, a team of divers located the suspicious object at a depth of about four meters and about a hundred meters from the shore.
Members of the Maritime and Port Police, as well as a pyrotechnic technician, went to the scene.
This object was checked and found to be a projectile about half a meter long and was placed under guard by members of the Maritime and Port Police.
On Thursday, a pyrotechnic technician is expected to visit the area to address the issue.
