The President of the Green Movement Citizens' Cooperation expressed his satisfaction with the cessation of the works in the Akamas region, since, he said, "these were catastrophic". He expressed the hope that "the residents themselves will listen to our views and support our proposal for limited access to Akamas only by public vehicles, buses, which will transport visitors from the communities within Akamas, so that there will be opportunities for development in the communities as well" and these suggestions, which have already been submitted to the President of the Republic, "to be accepted, to have a real protection for Akamas."
Mr. Perdikis also said that "for us, Akamas is not a playground or an amusement park, but a place of nature protection and so it must be protected."
Regarding the resumption of works in Akamas in October, Mr. Perdikis said "we expect that the Department of Environment will soon present a new design that we hope will include our own suggestions."
