Filenews 12 August 2024
In view of the day of the Fifteenth of August, the Police will take increased measures this year, in order to ensure the safety and protection of citizens.
In this context, during the period between 13-15 August, specific action plans will be implemented, which will include an increased presence of members of the Police on the main roads and in crowded areas, both for road safety purposes and for the prevention of crime and nuisance and delinquency.
The members of the Police will be at key points of the road network, to provide traffic facilities where needed, but also to carry out frequent checks, to prevent traffic violations that are proven to be the main causes of serious and fatal road collisions. Particular emphasis will be placed on controlling violations related to driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, speeding and dangerous overtaking, failure to wear a seat belt and protective helmet, use of a mobile phone while driving and dangerous or negligent driving.
In addition, the Police will take additional security measures with motorized and foot patrols, both in cities and in the countryside, to prevent offences against property, such as burglary and theft. Increased measures will also be taken in places of mass movement of the public, such as shopping streets and busy places and resorts, in order to prevent and combat any form of illegality.
Citizens can be informed about issues related to the Police, through the Social Media of the Police (Facebook, Twitter), as well as from www.cypruspolicenews.com .
