 Pafos Live 11 August 2024

Aiming to create a project that will inspire future generations with the visions and values of the great struggle and at the same time will transmit the appropriate messages to modern society and especially to youth, the monument of the municipality of Pafos for the Greek revolution was completed.

The monument of the Greek Revolution of 1821 was created by the municipality of Pafos in the city centre, on Dionysios Solomos Square. The decision was taken three years ago during the celebration of 200 years since the national rebirth. The Mayor of Pafos, Phedon Phedonos, expressed his satisfaction, noting that the aim was to create a unique project that will chronicle the epic of the struggle.

"The city of Pafos wants to show its respect for this great moment of the Greek nation by sending messages to the new generations that we must know our historical origins." The team that completed this monumental project consisted of the architectural office Lambrianos Koutsolambrou Architects Ltd, the sculptor Arsentis Lisenkov, the visual artist Katerina Foukara, and Dim-Chris construction LTD.

On the building, which is built in waves, symbolizing the historical phases of Hellenism, were placed the sculptural parts of the work. The monument also has an educational character since it has QR codes that refer to texts and works of Art for the Revolution.
