ETAP PAPHOS IS LEADING THE WAY - DIGITAL STRATEGY STUDY FOR PAPHOS TOURISM The Tourism Development and Promotion Company of the Paphos Region as well as the agencies that surround with the aim of further enhancing the digital presence of the destination in Cyprus and abroad are currently carrying out a study on the digital strategy of its whole province and action plans for the years 2025-2027.
The objectives of the study include but are not limited to: • Evaluation of the current level of digitization of the district of Paphos as experienced by the visitors. • Evaluating the effectiveness and use of digital tools by local people, agencies/partners/businesses. • Examining the digital tools and strategies used by international portals and partners for the promotion of Paphos as a tourist destination. • Preparation of strategic digital planning and action plans to enhance digital presence and identity of the Paphos region.
The study is carried out by ETAP Paphos in collaboration with a group of professors and students from the American University of Beirut- AUB Mediterraneo and is expected to be completed approx end of 2024.
As stated by the Executive Director of ETAP Paphos, Nasos Hatzigeorgiou, it is not understood by "Smart Tourism Destination" if providers, society and businesses are digitally and technologically adequate while simultaneously, and on an ongoing basis, implementing short-term, medium and long-term actions.
The first phase of work includes primary research on foreign incoming visitors while the second phase interviews and secondary research to all local partners, Municipalities, communities of tourist interest, hoteliers, restaurateurs, providers of tourist services, etc.
In the third phase the study will tackle the examination of digital tools and strategies that use international partners and portals to promote Paphos.
In the fourth and final phase is expected to bring together all the findings from the previous phases and to develop a comprehensive Digital Strategy and action plans that concern the entire Paphos district.
Through this study, ETAP Paphos seeks to recognize the level of digital proficiency of the destination and to chart a course so as to remain a pioneer in the course of digitization and of using technological tools through a structured strategy.
