A 15-year-old girl has been arrested in Limassol in connection with alleged theft from a 64-year-old man, who is being questioned over the nature of his relationship with minors, police said on Friday.

The teenager was arrested at 7pm on Thursday, after the older man reported that on Tuesday, a 15-year-old had visited him at his hotel room and suggested they go out for dinner.

On the way out, he claimed she directed them into a dead-end where a group of minors beat him and stole his wallet with €5,500 cash and his ID card.

Those that allegedly assaulted him were two males and the 15-year-old who was arrested on Thursday night.

The teenager who visited him at his hotel room has been identified and the vulnerable persons unit is handling the case, police spokesman Christos Andreou said.

The case has prompted a slew of questions as to why the 64-year-old met with a 15-year-old in a hotel room claiming they were friends.  Andreou specified they were also not related.

According to the spokesman, the arrested teenager has remained tight-lipped and denies committing any offence.

Update - Filenews   :  The Limassol District Court issued a six-day detention order against the 15-year-old girl for the assault and robbery of a 64-year-old man in Limassol.

In the same case, testimony emerged against a 16-year-old, against whom a court arrest warrant was issued and is wanted.

Examinations and interrogations continue in order to secure the evidence of the other persons involved.

Simultaneous examinations with the ICF of Limassol are conducted from the first moment and with the Special Unit of the Subdirectorate for the Investigation of Cases of Vulnerable Persons, of the Police Headquarters.

It is recalled that on August 20, around 23:45, while the 64-year-old was in the hotel room where he lives in Limassol, he was visited by a young girl (the 16-year-old who is wanted) whom he met a few months ago and asked him to go for dinner.

After departing in the 64-year-old's vehicle to go to a fast food restaurant located near the hotel, the girl asked him and they went to a dead end located behind the fast food restaurant, where her underage friend, aged 15, was waiting.

The 64-year-old also knew the minor and, as he was told, she also wanted to come with them for dinner.

After a few minutes, while they were waiting at the scene, the minor appeared accompanied by three other young persons, a girl and two boys, where one of them sprayed the 64-year-old with spray paint and then punched him in the face.

Then they threw him to the ground and beat him on various parts of his body, while one of them stole his wallet from the pocket of his trousers in which there was the amount of 5 thousand euros and his identity card.

Then all the above persons, along with the girl who initially accompanied the 64-year-old, entered a car parked at the spot and left the spot in an unknown direction.

From the attack, the 64-year-old was injured and taken to Limassol General Hospital where he received medical treatment and was dismissed.

The two young men were brought to direct trial before the Permanent Assize Court of Limassol for the double murder committed on July 30, in the area of Litovounos, with victims 39-year-old Andreas Kouzoupis and 38-year-old David Chemlar, from Slovakia.

The two suspects, aged 19 and 23, were brought before a court in the morning, where a case was registered against them.

The start of the trial was set for October 10, with both suspects remaining on trial until then. It is noted that none of the lawyers objected to the detention.

It is recalled that the motive behind the murder appears to be transactions and debts for drug purchases that the alleged perpetrators had with the 38-year-old Kouzoupis.

The two admit involvement in the case, but the testimony contradicts who pulled the trigger as well as the details of the brutal murder.
