 Filenews 23 August 2024

A total of 6,800 persons, who were staying illegally in Cyprus, have been deported/repatriated from the territory of the Republic of Cyprus from the beginning of 2024 until today, as part of the efforts of the Police to return third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

According to a police statement, during the corresponding period last year the total number amounted to 5,977 deportations/repatriations.

The last joint forced return flight took place on 20/8/2024 with the deportation of a number of persons, which took place under the coordination of the FRONTEX Agency. This is the 9th participation of the Cyprus Police in a joint repatriation and expulsion operation of FRONTEX for this year.

The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Service to maximize the number of returns continue.
