A large sweep operation to end the occupation of the beach next to the Larnaca Nautical Club by caravans and vans has been carried out since morning by Larnaka Municipality in cooperation with the District Administration.
Police forces have also rushed to the scene and will intervene if necessary, as reported by philenews, which obtained images and videos from the operation.

Phenomena of illegal presence of caravans on beaches in the area occur every year. However, this year, the situation was unprecedented, as dozens of caravans and vans appeared on this beach causing nuisance and an unacceptable image, for which the local authorities received many complaints.
So it was decided to take measures and as the mayor of Larnaka, Andreas Vyras, mentioned on our website, all owners of caravans were notified last Monday to move them immediately.
Some, however, did not comply and in the morning crews of the Municipality and the District Administration rushed to the scene and began to remove all vehicles illegally in the area. The vehicles are transported to the warehouses of the Larnaca District Administration and now their owners will have to go there to pick them up, after paying a fine.

"It was a place where there was an unacceptable situation. Arbitrarily, without any approval from any authority, some violated beach laws and caused nuisance. Even on private plots, caravans, according to legislation, need a building permit, which no one had," Vyras said, adding that the operation to restore order and cleanliness was inevitable.
