DAMS AT VERY LOW LEVELW

 Pafos Live 22 July 2024

The occupancy of dams in Cyprus is at a very low level. After consecutive years of drought, today's occupancy barely exceeds 36%. Last year, on the same day, dam occupancy exceeded 60%.

The lowest occupancy is recorded in the small dam of Argaka with only 15% while in the rest of the dams the occupancy ranges from 30% to 40%. An exception is the dam of Lefkara where there is still a stored amount of water exceeding 60%.

The three major dams of Pafos and among the largest in Cyprus, Asprekremmo, Evretos and Kannaviou are located around 40% of their total capacity. The new hydrological year begins in October and especially this year everyone is looking forward to winter starting earlier.
