A murder involving a 44-year-old Greek Cypriot was committed last night in Peyia. The victim is Stelios Stylianou, who was shot by a shotgun by his sister's husband, aged 50, who has already been arrested and admitted.

According to police, family members were having fun at the residence of the alleged shooter. Shortly before 11 p.m., they started arguing and the 50-year-old Greek man allegedly took a shotgun from the residence with which he shot his wife's brother in the head.

The perpetrator was arrested by the police and today he is expected to appear in the Paphos court for a detention order.

Regarding the case under investigation of attempted destruction of property with explosives, attempted murder, etc., two persons, a man and a woman aged 35, who had been arrested for facilitating interrogations, were brought today before the Nicosia District Court, which issued a detention order of 8 days for the man and three days for the woman.

The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.

After four months of investigations, the first case concerning the Habakkuk Monastery is being registered today before the Nicosia District Court.

The case will concern the two archimandrites of the monastery, Nektarios and Porfyrios, with the indictment including serious references against them concerning the €807,000 found in the monastery, their bank accounts and the origin of the money. After criminal charges are filed against the two, a representative of the Legal Service will request that the case be referred to trial by the Permanent Assize Court, since the indictment includes felonies. This development came after the detention of the suspended abbot of the Nektarios Monastery, the answers he gave during his interrogations before appointing a new lawyer, as well as documents and testimonies that emerged and show the origin of the hundreds of thousands of euros.

The Police do not exclude that other persons may be added to the indictment or that a new indictment may be registered for others, if satisfactory testimony is found.

Meanwhile, "F" reports that today, after the case against the two archimandrites takes its course, the newly formed team that will examine the complaint of Archimandrite Nektarios that he gave Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos  €450,000 instead of €155,000 that his entourage says he borrowed.

The investigation will begin separately from any other aspect of the controversial case and it is not excluded that in its context and if necessary, the opening of bank accounts may be requested.

Police investigations are in full swing into the case of placing an explosive device in the vehicle of a Central Prison officer at dawn in Nicosia.

As we are informed, the vehicle was parked in an open area, next to the house of the Central Prison officer, located in Archangelos.

Members of the Force, who rushed to the scene, cordoned off the scene and proceeded to collect evidence, while, as we are informed, the professional status of the owner of the vehicle was placed at the center of the investigations.
