A 43-year-old woman who was attacked by her 57-year-old husband with a car tool was brought to the Paphos General Hospital injured a few days ago.

According to information, under circumstances that are being investigated, the woman received several blows from her husband, who was arrested, as a result of which she was urgently transported to Pafos General Hospital for treatment and further examinations.

The "enraged" husband faces a slew of charges including assault, causing actual bodily harm, violence and verbal abuse. Against the suspect, the case was registered before the District Court of Paphos and he was released with restrictive conditions to be summoned later.

The case is being examined by the Domestic Violence Complaints Office of ADE Paphos.

Police arrested a 35-year-old resident of the Nicosia district yesterdayafter the detection and seizure of a large number of offensive instruments. Specifically, last night, members of the Police stopped a car driven by the 35-year-old on a road in the Nicosia district for inspection. During a subsequent search, 12 clubs, 13 iron fists and 26 knives were found inside the vehicle and seized.

The 35-year-old was arrested for a flagrant offence and taken to a police station, where he was questioned.

From the continuation of examinations, it was found that the car driven by the 35-year-old belongs to a 56-year-old kazadi owner, who was called and went to the Police Station. Under questioning, the 56-year-old reportedly said the items were his.

The 35-year-old and 56-year-old then walked away, to be summoned later.

The Pera Chorio Police Station continues the examinations.

A robbery at a bakery in Lakatamia, Nicosia, occurred on Saturday night while the robber, who had his face covered, managed to escape and is being sought, according to a spokesman for the Police Communication Branch.

As police told CNA, the robbery took place around 11.00 on Saturday night at a bakery in Lakatamia and after the robber pointed a paper cutter, he allegedly stole money from the cash register and disappeared.

The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.

Investigations by the Limassol YKAN have been ongoing for some time, following a raid on a house in the area of Mesa Geitonia.

According to the first information of philenews, a coordinated operation took place at the specific premises, where a quantity of cannabis exceeding ten kilos was detected.  At the same time, weapons have been found in the possession of a Greek Cypriot, who has been arrested.

The 36-year-old man who was arrested for possession of more than 40 kilos of cannabis and weapons was brought before the Limassol District Court this morning for a request for his detention.

The Court approved the request of YKAN Limassol and ordered the suspect's detention for a period of eight days. The 36-year-old's lawyer did not object to the request.

As Philenews learns, the 36-year-old after his arrest was taken to the offices of YKAN Limassol and despite the questions he was asked, he does not cooperate with the authorities.

Investigations into the huge quantity of drugs are ongoing to identify suppliers and recipients. Tests are expected to be carried out as to the origin of the drugs while ballistic examination will be carried out on the two pistols found in his possession, in usable condition.

It is recalled that after an evaluation of information, around 5 p.m. Yesterday, members of the YKAN (Limassol District Unit) stopped a car driven by the 36-year-old on a Limassol road for inspectionDuring the search that followed, two nylon packages containing cannabis with a total gross weight of six grams were found in the possession of the 36-year-old, while two more nylon packages with cannabis, with a total gross weight of two kilos and the amount of €12,400, were found and seized inside the vehicle.

A search was then carried out at an apartment in Limassol, the keys of which had been found in the 36-year-old's possession. During the search, six travel suitcases containing a quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of 38 kg, were located and seized. A small quantity of cocaine with a gross weight of half a gram and a quantity of cannabis with a gross weight of two grams were also seized.

Also, in a cabinet inside the apartment, two pistols and 14 pistol cartridges were found and confiscated, as well as two cardboard boxes, which contained a total of 2000 rounds of 9mm calibre.

The Police arrested a 28-year-old resident of Larnaca yesterday, after the detection and seizure of a number of fireworks in a warehouse in Larnaca.

Specifically, following an evaluation of information, members of the YKAN conducted a search at a warehouse in Larnaca, owned by a 28-year-old man. During the search, a paper package containing 45 fireworks was located and confiscated.

The 28-year-old was arrested for a flagrant offence and taken to a police station, where he was questioned in writing. He was subsequently released and is expected to be summoned again after the completion of the examinations on the evidence.
