An extrajudicial fine of €800 was issued to a 54-year-old man by the Customs for illegal possession of duty-free items.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on Wednesday night members of the Traffic Police intercepted a vehicle driven by a 54-year-old permanent resident of Cyprus.
Further inspection revealed that a total of 38 packages of tobacco of 50 grams each were found in the rear seats, which did not bear tax markings.
The Customs was immediately notified and issued an extrajudicial fine of €800, while the items were confiscated.
