Members of the Police and specifically members of the Aliens and Immigration Service – YAM of Pafos, along with officers of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, followed up the coordinated actions to combat illegal employment, illegal employment and undeclared work.
In an inspection operation carried out this morning in a building under renovation in the province, a total of 50 persons were checked.
Specifically, two persons, men aged 33 and 35, third-country nationals, were working illegally in the building under renovation, without permission from the competent Authority, while it was found that they remained illegally in the territory of the Republic.
They were arrested for flagrant offences and taken into custody for the purpose of investigating the case. Cases of illegal employment are being investigated against their 38-year-old employer.
The Labour Inspection Service also issued notices for the payment of administrative fines for violations related to undeclared work, as well as for violations related to the Provident Fund.

Yesterday, the Paphos Police Department filed a complaint against two young people, in different cases, for illegal possession of narcotics. In both cases, the young persons were identified by members of the Traffic Police, in areas of the Municipality of Paphos, in Moutallo and Tombs of the Kings respectively.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos operations, Michalis Nikolaou, yesterday Tuesday at 15:30 members of the Paphos Traffic Police checked a suspicious person who was wandering on foot in the Moutallou district. A crystal methamphetamine-like substance was found in the suspect's possession. As established, this is a 30-year-old European citizen who resides permanently in Paphos. The young man was arrested and taken to the YCAN offices to be charged and summoned later.
In the second case, according to the Police, again at 23:40 last night, members of the Pafos Traffic Police stopped for a check on Tafoi ton Vasileo Avenue a vehicle in which two young persons were riding, a 33-year-old male driver and a 27-year-old female passenger. A small amount of cannabis was found in the possession of the 27-year-old woman, as a result of which she was arrested and also taken to the YCAN offices for further investigation.

The 27-year-old defendant was found guilty of all 28 charges he faces in closed proceedings before the Limassol Permanent Assize Court. The defendant did not admit any charges he faced, with the case going to a hearing.

Rapid developments in the metamax pyramid scam.
The investigators of the Financial Crime Expansion Office of the Limassol Police Authority yesterday obtained a new court warrant against a person who allegedly also played a leading role in the Metamax pyramid fraud case.
This is a 63-year-old retired police officer who was sought last night by members of the investigation team, was not located and is wanted. The 63-year-old, according to the Police, retired on 1/6/2023.
It is recalled that a 54-year-old man is already in custody.
As far as complaints are concerned, so far there are about 50 complaints and a sum of money of approximately €150,000 has been extracted.
