YELLOW WEATHER WARNING IN PLACE TODAY

New yellow warning for very high temperatures, issued by the Department of Meteorology for today.

It will be in effect from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

According to the warning, the maximum temperature in the interior is expected to rise to 40 degrees Celsius and in the highest mountains to 33.

The forecast in detail:

Seasonal low pressure affects the area.

Today, after the dissolution of the local thin fog and low clouds, the weather will become mainly clear. After noon, increased clouds will appear in the mountains. Winds will be mainly southwest to northwest light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and later locally on the windward coast to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be somewhat rough. The temperature will rise to around 40 degrees in the interior, to 32 on the western coasts, to 34 on the rest of the coasts, and to 33 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight the weather will be mostly clear although locally there will be temporarily increased low clouds, mainly on the coasts. During the morning hours, locally thin fog and low clouds are likely to form, mainly in the southeast. Winds will become mainly northwest to northeast weak, 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 23 degrees in the interior and higher mountains and to 24 degrees on the coast.

On Thursday and Friday the weather will be mostly sunny. On Saturday, temporarily increased clouds after noon may give isolated rain or even a storm, mainly in the mountains and in the interior.

The temperature is not expected to change significantly until Friday. Saturday is expected to drop to near or slightly above average climatological values.
