WATER SUPPLY

WATER SUPPLY

Please be aware that Paphos have reduced the supply they send to Tala, without notice or warning, with the consequence that residents of Kamares, in particular, have been without water for several days. Supply was cut over the weekend to various areas of the village to increase supply to Kamares, but unfortunately this then resulted in pressure on some pipes and several bursts!

Tala are not alone - residents who live outside the tourist zone in Peyia regularly have 4 day spells without water - again with no notice or warning.

Tankers are in the course of delivering supply to Kamares. In the meantime, please be aware that there are low supplies of water in the dams and everyone please needs to be sensible with supply. No hosepipe ban has been issued by the Government, but please avoid use of hosepipes where possible [if your car needs a wash, use a bucket of water and sponge - or go to the carwash, whilst they are still operating!]. If you need to clean your drive/patio, please use a bucket of water. Full loads only in washing machines and dishwashers. If you have automatic watering systems, can their use be reduced? Can you collect the initial cooler water in the kitchen or bathroom to water plants or flush the loo? And don't fill an empty pool with drinking water - this is illegal - you should get a tanker or two of water - and this will be cheaper. Don't brush your teeth under a running tap. All fairly small changes that can make a difference.

We are all in for a very long hot summer but if we can all make a few changes, then hopefully long cuts in supply can be avoided!

If you are in Kamares and still have not got supply by late afternoon, can you email toffee@cytanet.com.cy with a note of your address, name and phone no and I will try and get someone from the Council to you tomorrow [Wednesday] to check that there is no blockage in the pipes. Thank you.
