In a move to cripple Russia’s war effort in Ukraine, the US Treasury Department has sanctioned a 53-year-old Russian businessman, Bulat Yanborisov.

Yanborisov, who resides in Paris but also holds Cypriot citizenship, has been identified as a high-ranking Kremlin agent by investigative reports in Le Monde, Der Spiegel, and The Insider.

These findings are bolstered by evidence of a military distinction awarded to Yanborisov by Russia’s GRU intelligence agency.

The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) accuses Yanborisov, CEO of Silk Way, of using the company’s logistics network to procure counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and radio-electronic warfare equipment for the battlefield in Ukraine.

The sanctions extend to two Cyprus-registered companies, Picotin Holdings Ltd and Sentimare Enterprises Ltd.

Both companies share an administrative office in Limassol and are linked to sanctioned Russian oligarch Vladimir Potanin, according to the US State Department.
