RECOSTING OF THE PROJECT TO UPGRADE TASSOS PAPADOPOULOS AVENUE IN PAPHOS

Filenews 3 June 2024 - by Dora Christodoulou

Following the decisions taken at the meeting on the issue of the construction of an overpass, for the safe passage of pedestrians and bicycles, on Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue in Paphos on April 15, the studies and procedures for the re-costing of the project have now begun.

The goal, according to our information, is to complete the updated studies for the important project and to be ready with the new educational year, since the focus is on the safety of hundreds of students of all levels who use this bus daily.

During the meeting of the Urban Planning Authority, everyone understood the necessity of creating this project and discussed three possible scenarios: To proceed with the existing design, to make a new design of lower cost and to make a design – construction (design and build).

Eventually, it was decided that the most correct solution is to ask the architect who won the architectural competition to make a new costing of the project and present it at a subsequent meeting.

The other two options were rejected because there would be a long delay, said Pafos MP Chrysanthos Savvides, who had highlighted the issue. The architectural proposal by Elena Pattichi is excellent both in terms of functionality and beauty, since when the project is completed it will be a real gem in the area, he concluded.
