MAJOR ROAD WORKS
On the Limassol-Nicosia highway, in both directions, in the section from the Moni junction to the New Hospital junction, in the period 27/5/2024 – 28/6/2024, from 9:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the following day, every day, except for Fridays and weekends, work will be carried out to replace safety parapets. During the works, it will be partially closed for a length of 200m. one lane of the highway and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Also on the Limassol-Nicosia highway, from Monday, 27/5/2024 and for a period of approximately 2 months, every day except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, parapet replacement works will be carried out on the abutments of the highway and in both directions. During the works, the highway embankment will be partially closed, in a length of 200m. approximately and traffic will continue uninterrupted.
On the Limassol-Paphos highway and the Limassol bypass road, maintenance work will be carried out on the trees and bushes of the central island, by the Forestry Department, as follows: (a) In the period 29/5/2024 – 9/7/2024, between the hours 07:00 – 15:30, in the section from the exit to Kourris Dam to Petra tou Romiou, (b) On Sunday 2/6/2024, between the hours of 06:00 – 13:00, in the section from the uneven roundabout of Germasogeia to the uneven roundabout of Agios Athanasios, and (c) On the weekends, 8 – 9/6/2024 and 15 – 16/6/2024, between the hours of 06:00 – 13:00, on the section of the Paphos – Limassol highway, from the exit to Agios Sylas to the uneven surface New Port roundabout. During the works, the right traffic lane will be partially closed in both directions for a length of 1500m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. Also on the Limassol-Paphos highway, in the section from Erimi to the Bridge by Petra tou Romiou, in the period 28/5/2024 – 15/12/2024, excluding Fridays, weekends and holidays, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00: 30, plantation watering works will be carried out within the central island, by the Forestry Department. During the works, the right traffic lane in one direction of the road will be partially closed for a length of 200m. and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. Also on the Limassol-Paphos highway, in the period 10/06/2024–14/06/2024, between the hours of 08:30 – 19:00, maintenance work will be carried out on electromechanical installations in the tunnel of the highway, in the direction of Limassol and in the period 17/06/2024–21/06/2024 in the direction of Paphos, from the Department of Electromechanical Services. During the works the tunnel will be closed in the direction where the works will be carried out and the traffic before the motorway tunnel will be diverted to the opposite flow of traffic which will operate in two-way traffic. On the Larnaca-Kofinou highway, in the period from 06/06/2024 to 06/16/2024, from 08:30 in the morning until 15:00, work will be carried out to cut, collect and remove grass, as well as the collection and removal of unusable objects from the abutments and slopes along the entire length of the motorway, in both directions, including Junctions. During the works, the freeway shoulder will be partially closed and traffic will continue uninterrupted. In Strovolos, from Saturday, 01/6/2024 until Saturday 15/6/2024, maintenance work will be carried out on the greenery of the central islands, in parts of the streets below, by the Municipality of Strovolos: • Strovolou Avenue from the junction with Archbishop Kyprianou Avenue to Agios Stylianos Street (1-2 & 8-9 June 2024 – weekend between the hours 07:00 – 16:00), • Independence Avenue (3-4 June 2024 between 09:00-17:00), • 25th March Avenue (June 5, 2024 between the hours of 09:00-17:00), • Vikela and Giannou Kranidiotis Avenue (June 6-7, 2024 between the hours of 09:30-17:00), • Archangelou Avenue from the junction with Andi Chatzikosti Avenue to Agios Alexiou Street (June 10-12, 2024 – between the hours of 09:30-12:45), • Lefkotheou Street from the junction with Archangelou Avenue to Agia Annas Street (June 12, 2024 between the hours of 09:00-12:00), • Roundabout and islands at the junction with Tseriou Avenue and Spyros Kyprianou Avenue without affecting traffic (June 13, 2024 between the hours of 09:00-12:00), • Andi Chatzikosti Avenue (June 14, 2024 between the hours of 09:30-14:00), • Spyros Kyprianou Avenue from the junction with Strovolos Avenue to Tseriou Avenue (June 15, 2024 – between the hours of 09:30-12:45) During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed for a length of 100-200m approximately, each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. At Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos and Section of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Hippocrates Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their junction with Themistokleous Street to Nikias Street and Kentaurou Street respectively.In Larnaca, on Artemis Avenue, on Wednesday 12 June 2024 between the hours of 08:30 – 12:00, technical work will be carried out in a well by Cyta. During the works, part of the right lane of the Avenue, heading towards Larnaca, in front of Camp "A. Souroukli", locally above the well and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane. The Municipality of Aradippou will carry out work in the period 10/6/2024 – 10/7/2024, between the hours of 08:30 – 13:00 every day except weekends and public holidays, on the Avenues of Eleftherias, Acropolis, Australia, Spyros Kyprianou and Hellas of the District Larnaca, for maintenance and beautification of the central islands of the streets. During the works, the tangential traffic lanes (from both directions) of the central island will be partially closed for a length of 100m. and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In the province of Larnaca, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Ormideia - Xylofagos Road" Project, from August 28, 2023 until July 17, 2024, work will be carried out on Anexartisias Street. The road will be closed to traffic in both directions, from the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street to the junction with the old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road. During the works, traffic will be diverted to an existing parallel road (old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road). The movement of vehicles and pedestrians on adjacent roads and properties will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. On normal roads in the province of Larnaca, work will be carried out to cut, collect and remove grass, as well as the collection and removal of useless objects, in the period from 4/3/2024 to 28/6/2024, excluding Sundays and holidays, from 08 :00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon. During the work, the shoulder of the road will be partially closed and traffic will remain in the normal traffic lanes without the shoulder. In the greater area of Limassol and Paphos, from Monday 12/2/2024 and for a period of approximately 6 months, a private company will carry out works to replace outdated signalling equipment at 47 light-controlled intersections and 31 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings, with a new low-consumption type (Extra Low Voltage-ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown and touch-type demand system for pedestrians. The equipment replacement work at each point will be completed within one day, unless unforeseen and during the work the light-controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service unless it is deemed necessary to instal temporary traffic lights. The above work will be preceded by civil engineering works for the infrastructures. In the district of Limassol, on the road Limassol - Agro in the village of Gerasa, in the period 21/5/2024 - 31/7/2024, between the hours 07:00 - 15:30, work will be carried out to raise retaining walls and clean slopes. During the works, one of the two traffic lanes of the road will be closed for a length of 120m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with alternating traffic management with temporary traffic lights. In Paphos, from Monday 8/4/2024 until Tuesday 8/10/2024, roundabout construction works will be carried out at the intersection of Loforou Empas with Christou Kkelis and Dimitraki Adamou streets. During the works, traffic on Empas Avenue will be uninterrupted. In the district of Pafos, on the road Episkopi-Mandria, in the village of Souni, during the period 10/06/2024 – 26/07/2024, construction works of retaining walls will be carried out by a private Contracting Company, on a section of the road. During the above period, one of the two traffic lanes of the road will be closed for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with alternating traffic management with temporary Traffic Lights. On the old Paphos-Limassol road, in the period 13/5/2024 – 12/5/2025 (for 12 months), construction work will be carried out to stabilize a part of the road, by Petra tou Romiou (near the KOT refreshment center in Petra tou Rumi). During the work the section of the road that is being reconstructed will not be available at launch. There will be continuous and uninterrupted traffic movement on both sides of the construction site boundaries. Traffic on the old Paphos - Limassol road (B6) heading from Paphos to Limassol will be diverted from the Petra tou Romiou exit (after Aphrodite Hills on the left) and from Limassol / Pissouri to Paphos from the Pissouri exit on the Paphos highway – Limassol (A6). In the Vassilikos area, from Thursday, February 22, 2024, fencing installation works are being carried out at the Vassilikos Energy Center, which will last until February, 2025.
