INCREASED POLICE PRESENCE OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND

 Filenews 21 June 2024

The Police are taking particularly increased measures for the three days of the Deluge with priority given to the protection and safety of citizens.

According to an announcement, in order to prevent road collisions, mitigate traffic and provide all possible assistance to citizens moving on the road network, the measures taken include increased presence of members of the Police and in particular of the Traffic Police Departments on motorways, interurban roads and especially on the main roads.

As part of these road safety measures, intensified police checks on traffic offences will also be carried out, with particular emphasis on traffic offences proven to contribute to fatal and serious road collisions, such as speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Due to the increased traffic that is expected to be observed on the road network, the Police appeals to drivers to be particularly careful and comply with the traffic code and traffic signs, as well as with the instructions of the on-duty police officers.

In addition to road safety measures, the Police take additional measures to prevent crime and especially offences against property. Security measures taken include increased foot and motorized patrols and checks, in urban areas and in the countryside.

In addition to the measures taken by the Police, the attention of the public is drawn to take precautionary measures to safeguard their property before leaving their residence, as well as in their vacation area.
