Police arrested two people, aged 34 and 46, yesterday to facilitate investigations into cases of burglary, theft and theft of a car committed recently in Nicosia.

Against the two persons, judicial arrest warrants were pending, issued against them, based on testimony that emerged after the detection of a stolen vehicle in Nicosia.

The car was reported as stolen to the ICF of Nicosia on May 30 by its owner. According to the complainant, the theft of the vehicle was committed between the dates of 26 and 29 May, while the vehicle was parked and unlocked, on a street in Nicosia.

The stolen car was spotted, on June 5, parked in an open area in Latsia. From the examinations that followed, various objects, tools and machinery were found in his luggage compartment, which were found to be part of property stolen after a burglary of an apartment warehouse in Nicosia.

The break-in of the warehouse, according to what had been reported to the ICF of Nicosia by its owner, was committed between the dates May 27 and June 2, 2024.  The two arrested were taken into custody and are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court later today for a detention order.
