A new case of child pornography is being investigated by the police, whose members proceeded to arrest a 32-year-old man, to facilitate interrogations.

The investigation of the case began following a tip received at the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate by EUROPOL. According to the information, a user of a specific account on a social networking platform, between 2020 and 2021, uploaded online and sent to other users of the same platform video files whose content is related to child pornography.

From the examinations of the Cybercrime Branch, testimony was obtained against the 32-year-old, against whom a judicial arrest warrant was issued.

The 32-year-old was located today, arrested and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations. After a search, two mobile phones were found in his possession and confiscated as evidence.

The Police are investigating a case of murder with the victim Petya Krateva, 41 years old, from Bulgaria, permanent resident of Paphos. To facilitate the investigations, members of the TAE Paphos, proceeded to arrest a 48-year-old, ex-husband of the victim.

Around 10.15 p.m. the Police received information about injured persons in an apartment complex in Paphos. Members of the Police went to the scene, where they found the 41-year-old woman injured, as well as the 48-year-old man, who lives in the said apartment complex.

The two injured were taken by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital, where the 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead. As it was established, the 41-year-old had wounds on the abdomen and both hands, which appear to have been caused by a sharp object. 

As for the 48-year-old, it was found that he has wounds in the abdomen and he was detained for hospitalization. His state of health is judged to be out of danger.  

Based on testimony, which emerged from the Police examinations, an arrest warrant was issued against the 48-year-old. Pursuant to the warrant, he was arrested to facilitate investigations.

The Paphos TAE is investigating the case.
