PAPHOS MUNICIPALITY - WATER BILLS
The Municipal Council of the Municipality of Paphos at the session held on 13.05.2024 was informed of the issues raised by the water bills of the last period.
• Leaks: immediately after the installation of the smart water meters, it became possible to detect leaks in 150 substances that were not detectable with the old water meters. The City Council expressed its satisfaction and satisfaction at the fact of detecting leaks since one of the main reasons for installing smart water meters was the timely detection of leaks. Also, the City Council decided that consumers, for this time only, will be charged 50 cents a ton for each additional ton of consumption. In addition, there will be no charge of sewerage use fees for extra tons since leaks did not end up in the sewerage system.
• Human error that occurred during the recording and recording of consumption in 65 instances. The Agency has already proceeded to correct the relevant bills. The City Council expresses its apology to the public affected.
• Problematic old water meters: it was found that the number of old water meters (148 cases) did not, for various reasons, record the correct consumption. In these cases, there will be no discount and consumers will have to proceed with paying their bills.
