MAJOR ROAD WORKS
On the Larnaca-Kofinou highway, in the period from 22/04/2024 to 31/05/2024, excluding Sundays and holidays, from 08:30 in the morning until 15:00, work will be carried out to cut, collect and remove grass, as well as the collection and removal of unusable objects from the abutments and slopes along the entire length of the motorway in both directions, including junctions. During the work, the freeway shoulder will be partially closed and traffic will remain in the normal lanes without the shoulder. In Strovolos and Lakatamia, at the Archangelos and Metro roundabouts, on Wednesday 8/5/2024 and Thursday 9/5/2024, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 02:00 a.m., cleaning of the exits and entrances will be carried out of circular nodes, from grasses, soils and useless objects. During the works, the exits and entrances of the roundabouts will be sectioned off using light arcs and appropriate signage and traffic will be channeled through the dips of the roundabouts. In addition, a sweeper will be used to clean the soil from the road surface and the footings of the roads.
In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Department Avenues of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Hippocrates Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their junction with Themistokleous Street to Nikias Street and Kentaurou Street respectively. As part of the "Road within Tseriou" Project, in the period 21/3/2024 - 31/5/2024, the eighth phase of the works will be implemented, during which a section of Theodosis Pieridis Street will remain closed, from its junction with K. Misiauli Street to M. Karaoli Street. During the works, of the above phase, traffic from Nicosia to Analyondas will be diverted through Arch. Kyprianou, Thermopylae, Pentadaktilo, V. Michaelidis, Salaminos, A. Zakou, Omonoias, M. Karaoli, Th. Pieridis. Drivers heading towards Nicosia are advised to use M. Karaoli, Omonoias, A. Zakou, Salaminos, Pentadaktylou, K. Varnali, Kouriou streets. For the above traffic regulation, there will be appropriate temporary markings, which drivers should follow. In Larnaca, on city boulevards, green care and cleaning works will be carried out, in the central islands of the streets, by the Municipality of Larnaca, in the period 24/4/2024 – 31/5/2024, between the hours 08:30 – 17 :00, daily except weekends and holidays. The works will be carried out along Tasos Papadopoulos, Dimitris Christofias, Famagusta, Spyros Kyprianou, Alexandros Panagoulis, Stratigos Timayas, Anexartisias, Yannos Kranidiotis, Nikos and Despina Pattichis Avenues, Limassol, Georgios Christodoulides, United States of America, European Union, Artemis and Tasos Mitsopoulos. During the works, the adjacent lanes will be partially closed in both directions and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In the province of Larnaca, on Friday 19/05/2023, the reconstruction works of the Ormideia - Xylofago road will begin, which will last for approximately 12 months, until the end of May 2024. The project is an improvement of a part of the existing road that connects the community of Ormideia with the old Larnaca - Dekelia - Famagusta road. The section of the existing road that is being improved begins immediately after the exit from the residential area (near the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street) and ends at the junction with the old Larnaca – Dekelia – Famagusta road. Also in the province of Larnaca, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Ormideia - Xylofagos Road" Project, from August 28, 2023 until July 17, 2024, work will be carried out on Anexartisias Street. The road will be closed to traffic in both directions, from the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street to the junction with the old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road. During the works, traffic will be diverted to an existing parallel road (old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road). The movement of vehicles and pedestrians on adjacent roads and properties will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. In the province of Larnaca, the Larnaca-Dekelia coastal road, from the height of Athens Street in Oroklini to the Oroklini Fire Station, will be closed to traffic in both directions from 20/11/2023 until 10/5/2024 , in the context of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project. Traffic will be diverted via Mesogeiou Street and drivers are urged to use caution. In Kiti, in the province of Larnaca, on Makariou Avenue, during the period 7/5/024 – 4/6/2024, construction works of a sewage system will be carried out by a private company. During the works, the section of Makariou Avenue from its junction with Achnas Street to its junction with Piraeus Street will be closed in both directions and traffic will be diverted through adjacent streets. On normal roads in the province of Larnaca, work will be carried out to cut, collect and remove grass, as well as the collection and removal of useless objects, in the period from 4/3/2024 to 28/6/2024, excluding Sundays and holidays, from 08 :00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon. During the work, the shoulder of the road will be partially closed and traffic will remain in the normal traffic lanes without the shoulder. In Dromolaxia, on 28th October Avenue, in the period 17/4/2024 – 17/5/2024, construction works of a drainage system will be carried out by the Larnaca Sewerage Council. During the works, the section of 28th October Avenue from its junction with Protomagias Street to its junction with Theodorou Kolokotroni Street, a total length of 300m, will be closed. approximately from both directions and traffic will be diverted via adjacent roads. In the greater area of Limassol and Paphos, from Monday 12/2/2024 and for a period of approximately 6 months, a private company will carry out works to replace outdated signalling equipment at 47 light-controlled intersections and 31 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings, with a new low-consumption type (Extra Low Voltage-ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown and touch-type demand system for pedestrians. Equipment replacement work at each point will be completed within one day, unless unforeseen and during the work the light-controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service unless it is deemed necessary to install temporary traffic lights. The above contributions will be preceded by civil engineering works for the infrastructures. During the week of 6/5/2024 – 12/5/2024, works will be carried out at junctions / pedestrian crossings: Sp. Kyprianou / G. Neofytou Avenue (Traffic Lights-Limassol) Sp. Kyprianou Ave. / Ev. Voulgareos (Traffic Lights-Limaassol)
In Paphos, from Monday 8/4/2024 until Tuesday 8/10/2024, roundabout construction works will be carried out at the intersection of Loforou Empas with Christou Kkelis and Dimitraki Adamou streets. During the works, traffic on Empas Avenue will be uninterrupted.
As part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Center, in Mari, from March 23, 2023, on the road between the EAC substation and the Vassilikos River in Mari, north of the cement plant facilities, system construction works will be carried out sewage system and one lane will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be regulated with traffic lights. The traffic of vehicles and pedestrians, in adjacent streets and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements.
In the Vassilikos area, from Thursday, February 22, 2024, fencing installation works are being carried out at the Vassilikos Energy Center, which will last until February, 2025.
