FREE AKAMAS BUS TOUR - EVERY SATURDAY FOR THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND JULY

The Tourism Development and Promotion Company of the Paphos Region, within the framework of its efforts to promote the countryside of the province, but also as a measure of support for the communities of Akama based on the announcements of the President of the Republic a few months ago, is currently promoting, in a pilot app, free tour of Akama communities to promote points of interest and increase traffic.

According to a statement by ETAP "this initiative is part of the support measures for the Akama communities, which were announced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus and is financially supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism". As stated, the excursion will take place every Saturday for the months of June-July 2024.  

According to ETAP Paphos, the excursion includes a tour that starts at 9.15am from the bus stops at the Archaeological Park of Kato Paphos and is carried out by bus.  The bus will travel along the coastal area, through the Forest of Peyia, arriving at the first stop in the community of Pano Arodes.

Additionally, it includes a visit to the Akama Geology and Paleontology Information Center where visitors can explore exhibits highlighting the geological history and paleontological findings of the Akama Peninsula.

A quick stop is then made at the village square of Arodes for a coffee or refreshment break and the next stop is the community of Inia with a visit to the Turtle Museum. Visitors can enter the world of sea turtles and learn about their biology, behavior and conservation efforts.

Afterwards, a visit is made to the village of Drousia and the Information Center for Rural Life and Traditions of Akamas.

According to ETAP, as part of the tour, participants will have the opportunity to explore the Museum and watch local people create culture. Workshops / live performance of local arts and crafts offered.

At noon, a transfer to the neighbouring village of Kathika is expected to visit the Akamas Regional Bird and Flora Visitor Center. "The exhibits showcase the variety of birds and plants found on the Akama Peninsula through interactive applications, photos and videos," it added.

The tour then includes free time for lunch at a local restaurant, cafe or stroll. (Meal is NOT included in the excursion).  

Next at 3.30pm, departure for Paphos with expected arrival at 4.15pm at the parking lot of the Archaeological Park of Kato Paphos where the tour ends..
