The deadline for submitting applications for the second phase of the "Electromobility with 1000" grant scheme for the development of an extensive electric vehicle recharging network has been extended by two months, until noon on July 31, 2024, according to a statement from the Ministry of Transport.

The plan is included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, with a policy axis the rapid transition to a green economy-sustainable transport, and its implementation will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions as well as other pollutants. The available budget for this phase is €2.5 million.

Its aim is to promote electromobility through the development of an extensive network of electric vehicle recharging points, it said.

The Ministry notes that eligible locations for the installation of chargers are parking spaces for public use, such as municipal and community parking lots, private parking spaces (e.g. parking spaces of department stores, hotels, supermarkets, banks, private hospitals, shopping centers, etc.), petrol station areas, recharging station spaces and roadside parking spaces (on street parking or along the roadway).

Beneficiaries of the grants are natural persons, legal entities (companies, associations, foundations, federations), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), legal entities governed by public law, local authorities that carry out economic activity for the purpose of this scheme and are owners or tenants of a parking space for public use and operate in areas under the control of the Republic of Cyprus.

It is clarified that beneficiaries do not include natural or legal persons aiming at the installation of the station for private use (e.g. charging of the organization's vehicle fleet). The competent body for the implementation of the project is the Department of Electromechanical Services of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works in cooperation with the Cyprus Energy Agency.
