EBE PAPHOS - NO BID FOR CONNECTION BRIDGE FOR MESOGHI/TREMITHOUSA

 Pafos Press 18 May 2024

The continuous efforts to connect, by means of a bridge, two areas of the craft area of Mesogi and the industrial zone of Tremithousa have not yet been successful, due to a lack of interest in submitting a bid, according to the President of the Pafos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Giorgos May.

In his statements to KYPE, Mr. May said that the project will contribute the most to connecting the two areas to facilitate the movement of people and goods.

Despite the continuous efforts made by the Paphos EBE, to promote this project, after a relevant tender has been announced by the Tenders Branch of the Department of Public Works, unfortunately this has not been successful, as no tender has been submitted by interested economic entities, said Mr. May.

He stated that the project concerns the completion of the construction of the bridge based on a revised design that includes earthworks, deep foundations with reinforced concrete piles, reinforcement, connection and completion of the mid-piers (some of them have been built earlier), construction of piers, deck carrier from prefabricated beams and cast-in-place reinforced concrete as well as other works.

Mr. May expressed his concern that no offer has been submitted. As EBE Pafos, he emphasized, we asked the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works to re-evaluate the economic data of the market.

As Mr. May mentioned, they expect the project to be re-announced as soon as possible, possibly with some differences in the tender documents concerning the technical specifications as well as the financial terms.
