4,491 PEOPLE HAVE BEEN REPATRIATED SO FAR THIS YEAR [compared to 3,489 in same period last year]

A joint flight of forced return of migrants staying illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus took place on Tuesday, May 21, with the cooperation of the authorities of Cyprus and Greece, under the coordination of the European agency FRONTEX.

This is the 7th participation of the Cyprus Police in FRONTEX joint operations for the repatriation of third-country nationals, during 2024. Members of the Aliens and Immigration Service – YAM participated in the international operation.

To date, in 2024, a total of 4,491 persons residing illegally in Cyprus have been repatriated, as part of the efforts of the Police and the Authorities of the Republic, to repatriate third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

In the same period last year, 3,489 persons had been repatriated.   Police efforts to maximize the number of repatriations continue.
