TWO MORE BOATS WITH 141 MIGRANTS ARRIVE IN CYPRUS

 Filenews 13 April 2024

An alarm was raised late on Friday at the Search and Rescue Coordination Center when the radars of the Republic detected in the sea area of Cape Greco two boats carrying 141 people, 92 men, 12 women, 25 children and 12 unaccompanied minors.

In the sea area where the two boats were found, boats of the port and maritime police rushed.

The 138 people, who are refugees from Syria, a man from Lebanon and a man and a woman from Palestine, boarded two boats of the Port and Maritime Police and were safely transported to Larnaka port where their details were recorded.

They said they started on April 11 from Lebanon after paying $3,000-$3,500 to an unknown person.

They were transferred to the Pournara Temporary Accommodation Centre for Migrants in Kokkinotrimithia.

It is worth noting that since March 31, 17 boats with 949 migrants have arrived in Cyprus.
